Joe Gray
FinOps Associate
I joined flinder in July 2022 after finding the role advertised online. Before then I worked at a large practice as an auditor for various clients. I worked on a job-by-job basis and it was all quite manual so very different to flinder.
One thing that attracted me to flinder was the opportunity to work with tech and SaaS businesses in London.
We have some really cool clients who in turn work with really cool companies that I have been aware of even before starting flinder. I was also keen to study ACCA and flinder gave me the flexibility to choose which study programme and route I wanted to go down.
My experience at flinder over the last couple of years has been great! Jess has been my manager for about six months now, and she has always been very supportive - I feel very lucky!
I also feel like I’m genuinely learning so much here which is the biggest difference from my previous role. Everyone is always willing to answer questions or lend a hand.
I’ve grown to a point where I can handle 90% of client encounters and ad hoc queries on my own which feels really good.
I left school during the peak of COVID in 2020 so I’ve always worked from home in some way or another, so I really enjoy the hybrid set up at flinder. I’m in the office two or three days a week which lets me spend time with the team and build relationships. I also really enjoy the socials, the ski trip is definitely the highlight! I have so many fun memories from the slopes and it’s such a great way to get to know colleagues on a deeper level.
The senior management team are all really approachable and are very supportive of my personal growth and studies. Luke has always been very encouraging of our development and pushes us to question processes and suggest improvements if something can be done in a better way
