Carol Gumbo
Fractional CFO
I joined flinder in December 2021 through a recommendation, a previous flinder client, and also Fatima Salhab, who is a fellow Portfolio CFO at flinder.
When I started, I sort of took over from Luke, our COO, who had been managing some of the existing clients as an interim CFO before I joined.
I work mostly with the Managers and some Senior Associates, as they oversee the team. I work with Matt Boon the most, one of our Managers, and we work really well together in supporting our clients. We have a multi-national client with many complexities, which is similar to a client relationship that I'd worked with previously.
They have complex reporting requirements as we have to report to multiple stakeholders in different countries while making sure they all understand what's happening in the business. I think it's good exposure to work with such a large client and offers vast experience to our team.
One of the great advantages of working for flinder is we're very flexible and hybrid. The relaxed nature of flinder is very different than previous roles and I think it's very successful here at flinder. It's nice to be informal but we're still delivering a great solution. We're very tech driven and it supports our clients well.
The flinder social experiences have been great. I joined a weekend away trip in Kent while I was still working my previous notice period to get to know everyone which helped when I actually started.
And, as someone who had never skied before, our annual ski trip has been a good adventure! It's nice to get to know each other outside the office environment and builds great relationships.
One of the key things for me when I joined flinder, was seeing we have an environment where you can bring your ideas to the table and they actually get implemented. We're able to interact with the founders easily as they're involved in the day to day of the business and are fully open to trying new ideas.
